Carried love across the ocean
Carried Youth
Carried roots in your collar
Carried backbones
Carried strength of a dozen
Carried embrace of a dozen
Carried “Never forget”,
Caress — hone and witness
My firsts
For all who were left behind.
Haikeda Hilliman

I really like when you mentioned “Carried love across the ocean “ and “Carried Never forget “ .These lines made me think of my hometown and my family, especially my younger sister and my grandparents. We haven’t seen each other in a long time, and we rarely get a chance to video call. After reading your poem, I immediately called them to share my feelings.

I like when you show repetition of the word “carried” as a way to symbolize the weight of memories, cultural roots those left behind.
