I buried my right hand

Underneath this boulder

With a flower in its fist

As a last call for peace

On a gory estate.

I buried my heart

Beneath the ocean waves

At the bottom where

Giant squids dance

With bioluminescent jellyfish

Hoping to never bleed again

Til the oceans fall and a shriveled

Pickle of a blood-pumper

Tickles at the boiling air

Free.

Today

I found my right hand

Knocking at the door

With my heart bursting ravenously

Between its fingers

Bleeding with saltwater

A hermit crab has molted its body

Into my conch shell heart

This time I can’t let go.
