Falling from the Sky,

Into the Earth’s Eye,

As I begin to occupy my new home:

The Sidewalk.

With it’s many cracks and curves,

Treading along like a slithering creek,

I end up stuck

Trapped in an empty hole consisting of dirt and pebbles

A day passes,

And another,

A week passes,

And another,

A month passes,

But I am still here, alone and neglected.

The businessman tip toes over me, touching the tip of my surface,

And the biker dips his rubber wheels into my delicate back.

I am still here, alone and neglected.

A day passes,

I feel a splash hit me, and then another.

Arrows of droplets come striking down upon me.

Am I finally free?

I hear the faint sounds of giggles,

And the rapid beats of footsteps,

Until a giant green boot with full force attacks my whole body.

It kicks me around, jumps up and down, as I can feel some of my parts drifting away.

And the boot stops to a halt, to the tune of a stressed woman and then ends with the slam of a car door.

The droplets disappear,

And once again, I am alone and neglected.
