Hi-Hi!
Welcome to another week of April! Hope you liked my double greeting! As you’ve probably heard for the past three weeks, this month is Diversity Month, Disability month, and Poetry Month. Yay! Right? As we draw closer and closer to the end of the semester, don’t forget to register for Summer and Fall classes, don’t forget to do your assignments on time, don’t forget to study, and don’t forget to TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. These end-of-semester weeks can be very overwhelming, so take care of yourselves, guys! And use your free-time wisely. Here are some of the events for this month that you can attend to help you do that:
In celebration of Poetry Month, Cape Cod Community College’s International Critical Conversations and Bigger Boat Writers Series will be holding an event with the multi-talented Martín Espada. Martin Espada will be hosting a virtual reading on April 22, 2021 at 2 P.M. See more information in image below. Here’s the link to register and attend the event!

On April 28th, at 6:30 PM, the Office of Diversity and Equity, We Stand Against Hate, the English Department and others will host a Poetry Slam/Reading. This event is meant to be inclusive, itself a celebration of diversity. All students, including English and Creative Writing majors and minors, and MA and MFA grad students—are invited.
We are most eager for them to share their own poetry, but if they are moved to read someone else’s work that addresses diversity or disability or anything else they are passionate about, that will be welcome, too. Students can sign up to read by emailing Briana Strong of the Office of Diversity and Equity at Briana.Strong@brooklyn.cuny.edu
And lastly, feel free to join us for our weekly Writer’s Circles every Wednesday at 2:30 P.M. and Thursday at 6:30 P.M!
