Welcome to this week’s installment of The Junction Journal! As March comes to a close, we see a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel, also known as Spring Break! It has been a long year of trials and tribulations, diseases and vaccines, heartbreak and love. This year has truly tested our limits, but I’m confident enough to say that we have made it out greater and stronger than before! Take this time to relax, rejuvenate, and recover from the first half of this semester. Use the weather to brighten up your damp winter gloom, as the flowers begin to bloom.
In response to last week’s targeted acts of violence which resulted in the murder of eight people in Atlanta, six of whom were Asian-American women, Brooklyn College will be hosting a “Speak Out against Anti-Asian Violence!” on Friday, March 26 at 5 pm. To show your support, register for the event here. We stand in solidarity with the Asian-American community during this difficult time. Learn more about the actions Brooklyn College takes against hate crimes.
This week, beginning today at 9 am and ending on Thursday at 5 pm, there will be student government elections. If you care about who will be the new student leaders to represent our student body, then go vote at https://vote.bcstudentgov.org!
Great job to all of those who joined our Open Mic this past Thursday! The talent was through the (virtual) roof! We even were blessed to have members of the audience read pieces too!
If you haven’t submitted your work to be published in The Junction, our annual literary magazine, don’t panic! There’s still time! Click here to submit your poetry, prose, photography, and artwork. Submissions will be accepted until April 8, so stop what you’re doing and go submit now!
Don’t forget to join our Writer’s Circles every Wednesday at 2:30 pm and Thursday at 6:30 pm with our amazing interns, Carina and Joshua! Come see what prompts they’ve cooked up for us each week to help bypass that icky writer’s block.

Have a wonderful week from all of us here at The Junction!
