Burnt Daylight

moving through the jungle
running from my fear
i hear his boots hitting
the ants hiding as they near

my heart aches for your touch
the purity of your wrinkles
the sanctity of your prayers
i miss your passing lullabies
your voice trespassing amplifies

two children i bore to that man
only now i run from fear
the only plan never coming near

one boy he sniffs the crystal whites of the land
his mind hazing never missing a demand
one girl huffs and puffs
her ecstasy hiding her lonely desire riding

i hear them louder nearing
my heart nearly tearing
the man that stole my innocence
the children that bore my fickleness
they run faster and faster
not a hesitated second i hear
they come for my neck
no mercy on deck

take my message to my savior
beg him rescue my remnants
the earth trembles it calls him
the sky reddens it bears him

only me
i tremble
my poor voice never gentler
only me
I rumble
never more did I love them.
