Hello everyone–

For this week’s blogpost, I was inspired by a couple of lines from my “Self Simulator 1.0” piece that didn’t make the cut. I tried to expand on them below in an effort to experiment with sounds and the feelings those sounds emulate. I consider this to be more of an auditory art than a visual or written one and I had fun writing it.

holding my fate in a no. 2 pencil
i sing opera à la supermarché between frozen corn dogs and plum tomatoes
somewhere between an orangey red and a reddish orange lies a radish fed up with ultimatums
sitting frantically on the edge of a cart i push sliced thinly destined
être à la carte to the duck
i will have seared t-minus two evenings...

holding my fate in ballpoint
teeth grind at the mind holding its host at gunpoint
blueish hues line the skeleton--
as an outlier outlined in sadness will leave the heart broken
down to its bare bones and each one fractured
a tongue folded over stuffed inside a folder curved to fit in a cup holder
bit too hard that buds broke
almost like i never got to bloom...

holding my fate in watercolor
i see beyond words into an impressionistic blur
of fuzzy feelings and mixed drinks
a shout to swim masking the long to sink
for the shorter faucet tends to target
a cramped hand and a stressful argument
between rose and lavender, my favorite structures
spineless like jello, yet courageous like garnet...
