I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. There is always cooking to be done, dinner to be prepared and someone’s got to be there to eat it all. That’s where I come in. Recently, however, I have decided that it’d probably be in my own best interest to learn how to cook.

It’s been a long and trying journey. My previous cooking experience was making candy sushi when I was in day camp. Though, to be honest, I ate the candy before making it look like a sushi roll. So, I have experience watching my friends make candy sushi. Those skills would take me far.

I can proudly say that I have mastered a few of the basics and even some more difficult recipes. I will now share a fan favorite with you all.

A Bowl of Cereal

Serves 1

Prep time: 2-37 minutes

Select a bowl or bowl-like object. While a bowl will probably be easiest, cups, pots, jars and vases have all been known to work well enough.

Important Note: bowl size should be proportional to hunger.

Once bowl is ready and waiting, a cereal must then be selected. Choose wisely, this may well be the most important decision you make. Personally, I’d suggest something chocolate-y, like Chocolate Toast Crunch or Cocoa Pebbles. If you do want to go the healthy route, I hear Fruity Pebbles aren’t too bad. However, that is completely up to you.

Pour the cereal. This should be done into the bowl. I specify because in the time you have chosen your cereal, you may have possibly forgotten all about the bowl. It has been known to happen.

Got Milk? Milk can either elevate your bowl of cereal to the next level or create a soggy mush out of the whole thing. It’s a risk that I suggest you take. But again, this is entirely up to you. For those that cannot have dairy, alternatives include rice milk, soy milk, and almond milk. To add some extra pizzazz, chocolate milk is an extremely delicious substitution for the milk we already know and love.

Grab a spoon and enjoy your fabulous meal.
