Lately, the pace of school has picked up and the overwhelming stress has been draining me emotionally. Usually when this happens, it’s quite easy for me to slip into a dark place because I become so disappointed in myself with the way I handle this thing called life. However, I have learned that we’re all in this together. We all get stressed, we all breakdown, and that is okay. This piece is just a reminder for everyone.

Just a reminder.

This isn’t that typical reminder to set your alarm at 6:00 AM to make it in time to catch the train, because if you forget to remember, then you’ll still make it.

No, this isn’t that kind of reminder.

This isn’t that forgetful reminder to take the chicken out of the fridge before your mother comes home, because if you forget to remember, you’ll panic, but things will still be okay.

No, this isn’t that kind of reminder.

This a reminder I need you to remember. I need you to find a safe place for it. Trap it in your ear canals, engrave it onto your brain, sew it into your soul. I just need you to remember.

Remember to be kind to yourself. Remember to only water the thoughts you wouldn’t mind putting in a vase. Remember that it’s okay to have off days. Remember that even though you may have spent the night before consumed in thoughts of self-hatred, you still found the strength to show yourself the slightest bit of love… Even if all you did was get out of bed and brush your teeth. Remember that you are only human.

Remember that we are all in this crazy adventure called life. Remember that some of us got lost, while some of us found our way. Remember that some of us tripped over an obstacle or two; meanwhile, some of us are tripping over them every day. Remember that you still have time.

So remember to be kind, and remember to form your words out of honey. Speak your words gently because some of us have it harder than others.

So I guess this is just a reminder to remember.
