What am I currently eating?

A salad. Not ewww. A salad. Not a proper salad with several vegetables, herbs and oils or dressings –  a simple salad out of one herb (arugula) and balsamic vinegar a.k.a the lazy version of a dish you might stumble upon in a restaurant. However, that might actually be true about most salads created at home. Honestly, I don’t have that much time on my hands to cut and mix all of the ingredients up neatly, then lay everything out precisely onto a white plate, only to then demolish it all in seconds simply because I have to get back to studying and living my life. Chop, chuck, and chew – that’s my go to. Unfortunately for me, this week I have the job of writing for the ‘currently eating’ category, and truth be told since I’ve been busy being lazy, I’m having a bit of a rough time. And following that statement, I’m not even sure I’m supposed/allowed to tell you, dear readers, about my current dilemma.

Some of the people I know who are studying to become journalists, or professional writers, face this problem on a weekly basis. Every week they have to write, in answer to a prompt, about something they have absolutely no idea of. Obviously, they struggle. And they aren’t even allowed to express that struggle to their readers (cause apparently they don’t care (to which I say “LIES!!!”)); a journalist’s job is to just pop out an article regardless of the pain that might involve. Be it writer’s block, or apathy towards the issue (seriously, why does anyone have to write about killer bananas?) – growing journalists have to come up with different writing (coping) strategies (mechanisms), like picking up a thesaurus. It can be distressing, agonizing, harrowing, and even traumatic, but it can be helpful. However, it depends on the prompt; I have no idea how a thesaurus might aid a struggling student in writing about killer bananas. I should probably ask my friend (who got this assignment) how she managed. (I think she used magic, but I don’t want to out her cause a) snitches get snatched out of the sky, b) I’m still waiting for my owl, and c) she might be my last chance.) Don’t be silly magic isn’t real. Or is it?

Anyways, all jokes and helpful/not-so-helpful suggestions aside, back to the topic of currently eating. I am making now a quick snack out of puff pastry, egg yolk, sugar, and…

KITTY!!!

Whoops. Got a bit distracted there. And ginger green tea – that’s what I meant to say. It’s a simple delicious snack that takes only a few minutes to prepare (only if you buy the ready-made puff pastry dough, otherwise it’s a few hours). Since I had some dough leftover from Thanksgiving, I just had to cut it into strips and stretch them to the max. Then, separate the yolk from the whites of one egg, add sugar to it and slather the strip of dough with the mix. Twisted sticks are one of the easiest forms to create out of dough. Simply, roll up the dough after covering it in the mix, and then twist while holding one of the ends. Lay your creation onto a baking sheet with wax paper, cover the sticks with remaining mixture (if there is some left), and then bake on 350 Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes (or just sporadically check the bake in the oven until you see that it’s golden brown). Remove. Let cool (you can make some tea or pour a cup of milk in the time being). Enjoy.

12:09 am. One bibliography due in a day. I would stay and chat but…

Bongo Cat!!!

Damn it. I hate my brother for getting me addicted to Bongo Cat (though, I don’t think he’s that much better off). What I wanted to say was that I would love to stay and chat but I’ve got some procrast…I mean some studying to do. Hopefully, this post was as fun reading for you, dear readers, as it was writing for me (or, at the very least, as amusing). I do try.

Have a productive week!
