Hello all!  I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break and was able to use the time to catch up, eat up, and rest up.

Can you believe it? It’s the second to last full week of the semester (wow that flew by). As our semester comes to a close, I’m sure everyone is busy with end-of-term projects, finals prep, and countless other things, but here are a few announcements about upcoming opportunities and events:

  • HarperCollins Publishers is having their first ever open house on January 9th from 4-6pm at their NYC Headquarters (195 Broadway, NY). This is a great opportunity for those interested in publishing to network and get their foot in the door. Instead of the standard resume application process, those interested will have to submit answers to a series of questions – application deadline is November 30th, so if this interests you, you’re going to have to work quickly. For more information about eligibility requirements and about the open house, visit HarperCollins’ career page here.
  • NYC Teaching Fellowsare looking for high-achieving individuals who are committed to creating a better future for New York City’s students. If you have a desire to help people than I would suggest applying right away. What is great about NYC Teaching Fellows is that they place you where you are needed the most. You can learn more about the program here and by reading this  Applications are currently open and priority deadline is November 29th.
  • This winter, Brooklyn College, and the CUNY School of Law will be launching the first-ever Brooklyn College/CUNY School of Law Pipeline to Justice Undergraduate Winter Program. It is a free, one-week program, designed to introduce prospective advocates to the legal academy and the world of public interest lawyering.  Did I mention that it is free?! The Program will run from January 22ndto January 26th from 9 am to 3 pm.  Complete and submit an application by December 8th 2017 to ryan.dooley@mail.law.cuny.edu
  • The Junctionis taking submissions! Please send your artwork, poetry, or prose to bczinesubmissions@gmail.com. The deadline is March 1st
  • Writer’s Circle this Tuesday is cancelled, but check your email for some prompts that will be used for Thursday’s class.

And remember, if you ever need any guidance about classes, schedules, or the English Major in general, your friends at the English Majors’ Undergraduate Office are here for you!
